What airport do I fly into?
Snowbird is serviced by the Salt Lake City International Airport. See the Travel and Lodging link for more information.

How far is Snowbird from the Salt Lake City International Airport?
29 miles, approximately 40 minutes.

Does Snowbird have shuttle service from the airport?  
Shuttle service is available between the Salt Lake City airport and Snowbird via Canyon Transportation.  The round trip cost of the shuttle (as of Dec. 2009) is $68 per person, based on a shared vehicle.  Private vehicles are available at a higher rate.  For more information call 800-255-1841, visit www.canyontransport.com, or schedule your ground transporation through Snowbird Central Reservations line at 800-232-9542.

What car rental companies serve the Salt Lake City area?
Car rental facilities are located on the ground floor of the short-term parking garage directly across from the terminal buildings.  You can reach the Ground Transportation Desk at the airport by calling 801-575-2477.

Do I have to pay for my spouse to come to the conference?
Spouses have to pay the registration fee only if they attend official conference functions – meals, hospitality suites, Breakout Day, The Shooting Program, workshops. If they are coming to Snowbird, but will not be participating in any conference activities (including meals), they do not have to register.

What should I wear?
Casual (shorts, jeans, slacks) clothes to all functions except the awards ceremony. Awards dinner – dress pants (khakis are fine) and dress shirt, tie and sports jacket are optional.

Are there any airline discounts?

Are there spouse activities?
A spouse welcome party will take place on Saturday, a spouse tea on Monday, and spouse tours will be available throughout the conference. A separate room will be reserved for spouses who wish to meet.

Can I bring my children?
Yes, but children under 18 are not allowed to attend any conference functions.

GENERAL INFO

Babysitting
Camp Snowbird is the resort’s comprehensive, state-licensed daycare facility with an on-premises kitchen and nursery for infants 6 weeks and older. Camp Snowbird offers a seamless integration with the resort’s renowned Mountain School to smoothly incorporate outdoor activities on the mountain with customary daycare offerings such as games, movies, arts and crafts and naps.

Board Meetings
OWAA board of directors’ meetings are scheduled for Friday, July 8, at 8:30 a.m., and Monday, July 11 at 1:15 p.m. Members may attend as silent observers.

General Attendance Policy
Conference attendance is restricted to registered individual members and supporting groups, spouses and guests. Conference attendees wearing green ribbons on their badges are first-timers; please make them feel welcome. Children may attend workshops if supervised by parents, but they may not attend Registration Day Displays, Breakout Day, Shooting Program, sponsored meals, receptions or hospitality suites. All registrants must be at least 18 years of age.

Hospitality Suites
Supporter hospitality suites will be open from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. You will receive a schedule at registration.

Hotel Parking
Ample complimentary parking is available at Snowbird for cars, RVs and trailers.

Miscellany
Bring plenty of business cards; you’ll need them. Personal messages, conference information, etc. will be displayed on a bulletin board near the registration area. Some Supporters conduct prize drawings; entrants must abide by drawing rules. Failure to do so may be a violation of the OWAA Code of Ethics.

Roommates
OWAA headquarters is keeping a list of OWAA members interested in sharing a room at the Snowbird conference. Contact headquarters at 406-728-7434, or e-mail rginer@owaa.org.

Scavenger Hunt Photo Contest
Request and pick up rules and subject matter at the OWAA registration desk. Using your own digital camera, take one photo of each of the five pre-selected assignments, have editors critique your entries (anonymously), and maybe win a prize donated by our supporters. Shots are due midday Saturday. Entries are critiqued at a screening during the conference.  Date and time TBD.

Special Rooms Assigned
•    Working Press Room. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
•    Literature Room. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Materials and press kits supplied by supporters will be available Thursday through noon Sunday.
•    Spouse lounge. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Weather
Average temperatures in the Salt Lake City area in July range from highs in the low 90s to lows in the mid  60s.  Snowbird is located at a higher elevation and may experience slightly cooler temperatures.  Bring a sweater or light jacket for evenings on the mountain.

What to Wear
Wear comfortable shoes and casual clothes to the opening dinner, workshops and outdoor activities (breakout/shooting programs). Evening meals are an opportunity to dress up. Business-casual attire is suggested as a minimum.

Spouses, Partners and Guests
Over the next few months, tours for the Spouses, Partners and Guests will be arranged with the help of the Salt Lake City CVB and Snowbird, the Spouses Committee and Robin Giner.  If there’s something you would be interested in doing, please email your suggestions to Robin at rginer@owaa.org.
